We are seeking an Extruder Operator likely for a back shift.
POSITION
Summary:
Must be able to operate and monitor all equipment required to manufacture each product at or above established rates of production. Equipment includes by-product system to insure proper bin separation by assignment and dye water tank farm system to insure proper dye amounts are dumped/mixed in proper tanks by assignment. Must perform all required tests and make adjustments as needed to insure product quality falls within specification guidelines. Assist in product change-overs, and relieves extrusion equipment operators as needed. Must maintain a satisfactory sanitation level in all assigned areas and adhere to all safety regulations and requirements in the plant.
PRIMARY
Responsibilities:
Extruding
1. Review productions schedules daily prior to beginning of shift.
2. Communicates operation status with on coming/off going shifts.
3. Perform all required in-process tests/monitor finished product results.
4. Continual monitoring of all equipment in assigned areas and quality of product being produced.
Maintain exit hoppers/answer alarms. Perform knife, feed, steam and water adjustments when needed to maintain quality, adjust dryers for moisture control. Know how to operate and understand the functions of Koburn System. Know how to operate and understand the Dye Water System.
5. Monitor all electrical panel boards and steam controls associated with processing equipment in assigned areas.
6. Troubleshoot, recognize maintenance problems and initiate a work request to get equipment repaired.
7. Must be able to perform all aspects of job functions involved in a changeover. Communicate/coordinate with scale operators for new product feed to be batch into meal system. Communicate start-ups/shutdown with packing operator. Insure proper equipment, knives, caps, pressure plates are installed and hammermill screens changed when necessary. Start-up and lining out extruders once changeovers are complete.
8. Must maintain adequate, satisfactory sanitation level of assigned areas at all times.
9. Must be able to accurately complete all daily paperwork.
Utility
1. Determine fines separation needs at beginning of shift.
2. Coordinate the handling of by-product from change-overs and normal operations.
3. Ensure proper fines separation as determined by assignment needs.
4. Monitor and troubleshoot all equipment utilized in processing and separating fines.
5. Maintain proper records of bin settings.
6. Perform all needed paperwork.
7. Maintain proper sanitation level in all areas with fines equipment in them.
8. Perform all operating checks of equipment to insure fines quality.
9. Make flavor enhancer and dye water.
10. Relieve other operators in processing as needed.
11. Maintain all other processing areas. Be able to perform both daily and shutdown clean up as determined.
12. Perform basic extruder operations i.e., changing of hardware, perform quality checks, stabilize extruders.
13. Be able to assist in performing production feed test.
15. Monitor equipment as needed.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(List job duties which may be important to the performance of the job, but are not principal job functions).
Communicate effectively with processing team members, team leader, material handling, and packaging departments. Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a history of good work attendance, good communication skills, the ability to work well with others, and the willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):
Education: High School Diploma/G.E.D.
Experience (Years/Type) 2 years of manufacturing experience and basic computer skills. Manufacturing experience in a food or relative production/manufacturing experience preferred.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
