Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

Analyzes and organizes office operations and procedures such as patient registration, patient checkout, record creation and record management systems to ensure peak patient flow.
Maximizes office productivity through effective triage of physician's schedule; scheduling of staff; planning, assigning, and directing tasks; and proficient use of appropriate software applications.
Acts as primary liaison with administration, facilitating administrative functions such as billing, bookkeeping, payroll, human resource management, information systems management and marketing.
Carries out staff management responsibilities-include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; performance appraisals; staff incentives and progressive discipline in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Monitors staffing needs, including approval of PTO and coordination of coverage, to ensure adequate staff to meet the needs of the practice.
Responsible for the requisition of supplies and the timely maintenance of clinical equipment to minimize down time.
Closely supervises and coordinates activities of various front desks departments and staff within department.
Monitors surgical schedule and acts as primary backup to surgical secretary.
Responsible for in-service and training of staff, review staff knowledge of practice policies and procedures and makes appropriate recommendations to administration.
Serves as principal contact person for all patient issues, maintains communication with patients, observes strict patient confidentiality.
Maintains a current knowledge of trends in ophthalmology.
Supervisory
Responsibilities:
Directly supervises 6-18 employees depending location.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
It is required to publish the office schedule, have at least quarterly meetings with staff and more frequent informal/shorter meetings that occur at least weekly; and meet at least once a month with full-time doctors in their office and once a quarter with part-time doctors.
A brief summary is to be documented and circulated to attendees and the COO.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor's Degree (B.
